The Mission of Hand in Hand ~
Hand in Hand Autism Resources was founded by a parent, with other parents in mind. Our focus is to connect families who have children with special needs and/or chronic illness, with service providers in their area. We have a concentrated focus on Autism and related neurological disabilities. Our outreach is to parents and caregivers of all cultures, socioeconomic classes and non-native English speakers. We desire to make it easier for families who cannot navigate the private service sector due to language and/or cultural barriers. We want all children to be able to receive every service that will benefit them and for the parents and caregivers to receive the training and support that they need to help their loved one. We aim to empower families by teaching them effective advocacy, educating them about their rights and what is available to them in their community. Our priority is the family unit as a whole and every component needed to help them stay together and access services outside of the school systems.
Hand in Hand does not provide any direct services to families, instead, we connect them with the experts who do. Our resource is free to the consumer. Due to the rise in reported diagnosis of Autism and related neurological disabilities in particular, we are expanding our data-base. We are adding other languages and established service providers across the country. Also available is an Autism Explanation brochure with a step by step guide to help you get started once you've received a diagnosis or suspect your child may have autism. This brochure will be available in multiple languages and is applicable no matter where you live. It is free. Simply fill out the "Contact Us" form and request the Resource Brochure.
